Suffolk police are accusing a 20-year-old man of preparing to inject heroin into his arm while parked at a gas station with his two-year-old daughter in the backseat.
Thomas Barry, of Ronkonkoma, was arrested Monday and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, endangering the welfare of a child, and criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument.
Police say the child was released to a family member and child protective services were notified. Information on Barry’s lawyer was not immediately available.
Police say an off-duty police officer who was refueling his car called police after spotting Barry with the drugs at the gas station in Holtsville.
